Manses

During the Autumn of 2007, 9 district manses were visited in accordance with standing orders.. Almost all had been maintained to a high standard, with only minor matters requiring attention, except for the Birmingham Mission manse, where serious cracking was observed in the front elevation.

However it was again noted that in spite of highlighted requests the last quinquennial and      Sch. C were often not available for the visitors..

Once again it was noticed that in some cases Fire Blankets were missing from the kitchen and also smoke detectors were not working.

In most cases the work requested last year and in the quinquenials had been carried out,

During the Autumn of this year visits will be arranged in the following circuits:-

Tamworth & Litchfield

Nuneaton & Atherstone

Coventry

Bromsgrove

There are now five Connexional manses (one of which is a two bedroomed flat) being looked after by the Birmingham South West Circuit, as well as the Central Chinese Mission manse, and one in Leamington Circuit. The committee expressed their thanks to these circuits for the additional work that this involved.

Circuit Stewards and Property Secretaries are reminded that the quinquennial schedule “E” for each Manse should be sent to the District Manses Secretary not the District Property Secretary.

The care which the Circuit Stewards, Property Secretaries and their committees put into looking after the manses is greatly appreciated by the committee and also by the Ministers. This work is vital in keeping a satisfactory home environment.
